Plan your visit
Skating runs in two- and three-hour session blocks, and the rink building closes 15 minutes after each session ends. Mondays are private rentals only — there is no public skating. Sessions are weather permitting, so on questionable days the city asks skaters to call (765) 743-7465 or check the rink’s Facebook page before heading out. Extended holiday hours are posted from opening weekend through January 19, including MLK Day.
What makes this rink distinctive
Most holiday rinks are rectangles in a plaza; Riverside is a 120-by-70-foot oval — a proper loop at Tapawingo Park on the Wabash River. The city has run the rink for more than 20 years, and it keeps the small-rink rituals: Wednesday Family Night, when kids 16 and under rent free with a paid adult, Thursday drop-in lessons for beginners, and a Skate with Santa morning in December.
