Plan your visit

Skating on the River is Baton Rouge’s holiday skating tradition on the Raising Cane’s River Center arena’s real ice, running nearly three decades. The 2026–27 season dates, admission, rental terms and hours have not been published yet, so check the operator page before going. Prior-season prices and the prior December pattern are deliberately not carried forward, because the operator page carries no year on its dates.

What makes this rink distinctive

A seasonal holiday installation on arena ice, not a year-round arena program: three weeks of public skating each December on the home ice of the Baton Rouge Zydeco, with Zydeco players skating with guests at some sessions in prior seasons. Private party sessions for up to 250 people were offered in prior seasons. Do not confuse it with the one-night Festival of Lights kids rink in the same venue complex.

Real ice from the operator FAQ (“Is the rink made out of real ice? Yes!”); annual-event status from the operator page (“Skating on the River is BACK!”) and a ~30-year tradition documented by WBRZ (archive video back to 1995). The operator page’s December dates carry no year and match the documented 2025 pattern, so 2026–27 dates and prices are unpublished and prior-season figures are not carried.
