What makes this rink distinctive

A city-run covered rink where the real-ice question was answered by the mayor herself at the rink’s debut: asked whether it would be plastic, she said, “Oh yes it’s going to be real ice. It’s not going to be like some of the places you go where they have some kind of plastic stuff that you skate on.” At $10 including skates, it is also one of the cheapest real-ice rinks in the state, with a Merry Market (December 5), Grinch skate (December 12) and a three-day Mini Ice Skating Camp (November 23–25).

Real ice (separate source): local news quoting Mayor Betty Cason at the rink’s debut — the rink “uses a machine that freezes the water and keeps actual ice frozen” and “It’s going to be real ice.”
