Skating in the Park
Huntsville’s fifteenth-season rink behind the Museum of Art in Big Spring Park: real ice downtown, five-dollar kids’ admission, and evening hours built around the school calendar.

Tickets at the entrance, and don’t confuse the two price lists on the operator page: the $20 museum admission is for the museum, not the rink. Rink admission is $5 for kids 9 and under and $15 for ages 10 and up, plus $5 rental — and if school is in session, the Mon–Wed 4–5:30 PM school skate folds rental into an $8/$5 ticket. Hours can shift with the school schedule, so check @skatinginthepark before going.
What makes this rink distinctive
The operator page lists a Zamboni Sponsor — the kind of maintenance equipment you only need if the ice is real — and Garden & Gun’s account of the fourteenth season says flatly that the rink “is made of real ice.” Fifteen seasons at the same park, same museum operator, same downtown location: this is Huntsville’s rink, not a pop-up.
Official tickets and session information
Schedules, prices and closures can change. Check the venue's own site before setting out.
Season status: November 20, 2026 – January 3, 2027 (operator page, page timestamp 2026-10-22, fifteenth season). Real ice: Garden & Gun on the fourteenth season (“this outdoor rink… is made of real ice”); operator page lists a Zamboni Sponsor. CAUTION: the operator page also lists museum general admission ($20 adults etc.) — that is museum pricing, NOT rink pricing, and is not used here.
