Plan your visit

Book online if you can: sessions cap at 300 skaters and admission is good for one session only, with no re-entry. Online tickets carry a $0.90 processing fee; box-office tickets avoid it. Note the holiday exceptions before traveling — Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day are closed, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve run a single early session, and New Year’s Day is open. Family Skate Thursdays give one free youth admission with a paid adult; College ID Night takes $1 off.

What makes this rink distinctive

Skating on the Oval since 1975, and the ice is here to stay: after the 2023–24 season was lost to failing equipment, the city replaced the rink’s aging chiller system for about $3.5 million, and the director said the new chillers "will ensure outdoor skating continues at Schenley Park for years to come." The rink flips with the seasons — ice November through March, roller surface May through August.
