Plan your visit
The Gelatin Park Ice Rink returns for the 2026–27 season at the Grayslake Village Center. The rink began in winter 2021, doubled in size in 2022 and remains that size in 2026. The ice is temperature controlled and can stay frozen up to 50 degrees, so it skates in all types of winter weather. Admission is free; bring your own skates, as no rentals are offered. String lights run dusk to dawn, with benches and picnic tables for spectators. The Village Center has not posted a dated 2026–27 opening announcement, so check its winter calendar before going. Note: this Village Center rink is a different venue from the Grayslake Park District ponds (Jones Island, Chesapeake Farms, Molly’s Pond).
What makes this rink distinctive
A free, temperature-controlled village rink: Gelatin Park’s ice holds up to 50 degrees, so it skates through warm spells that would close a natural pond, with string lights, benches and picnic tables around it and a sledding hill just east of the rink.
