Thousand Oaks, California · October 19, 2026 · Ice Rink News
Thousand Oaks is getting two places to enjoy outdoor holiday ice skating this winter. The returning Holiday Ice Rink at The Lakes and the brand-new Ice at The Oaks both plan to open on November 6, 2026, giving Ventura County families a choice of seasonal skating experiences on opposite sides of town.
The Lakes: A returning holiday tradition
The Holiday Ice Rink at The Lakes at Thousand Oaks returns above the shopping center’s signature two-tiered pond. The venue plans to operate daily from November 6, 2026, through January 11, 2027. Published prices are $20 for admission without skate rental or $25 with rental skates included, before applicable taxes and fees. Advance reservations are recommended, and the rink is cashless.
The Lakes, at 2200 E. Thousand Oaks Boulevard, pairs ice skating with shopping, restaurants and other stops at the center. Hours vary between regular and holiday periods, so check the current session schedule before heading out.
Ice at The Oaks: A new option nearby
Ice at The Oaks is preparing for its inaugural season from November 6, 2026, through January 10, 2027. Its advertised general skating admission is $22 per person, including rental skates, for a 90-minute session. The new attraction is planned near The Oaks shopping mall, with holiday activities announced alongside the rink.
The lineup includes a Ferris wheel, a large slide, a cocoa and sweets stand, and selected themed skating events. Sunday morning skating lessons and family-night promotions have also been announced. Confirm availability, pricing and opening details directly with the operator, since schedules can change.
Which Thousand Oaks ice rink should you choose?
For visitors renting skates, The Lakes lists a $25 package and Ice at The Oaks lists $22—a $3 difference before any additional fees. But skaters bringing their own skates can choose The Lakes’ $20 admission-only option. The Lakes is scheduled to finish one day later, on January 11, while Ice at The Oaks currently lists January 10 as its last day.
The Lakes may appeal to visitors who want to combine skating with a familiar shopping-and-dining destination and a pond-side setting. Ice at The Oaks adds a fresh holiday attraction with rides, treats and themed activities. Neither is automatically the better choice: compare your preferred date, session length, rental needs and the activities your group wants to enjoy.
Before buying tickets, confirm current hours and prices through The Lakes’ official holiday rink page and Ice at The Oaks’ website. The new rink’s details are also documented in a local event announcement.
